They primarily manufactured saxophones for Adler and FX Hüller. After this apprenticeship, Julius Keilwerth and his brother, Max, established a workshop in their home around 1925 or 1926. Julius Keilwerth first apprenticed for the Kohlert company in Graslitz, Czechoslovakia. Requires a complete re-pad or the main body is bent) and it's in playing order then £150 for an Armstrong alto sax is a pretty good price. Assuming there's nothing seriously wrong with the horn (e.g. It used to be the case that you could buy a professional quality vintage horn for much less than a professional quality new one, however the market is now opening up due in part to some very good and inexpensive saxophones being made in Taiwan and recently China. ![]() Yes and no, “better” is very often subjective. ![]() The “Conns” included the 20M, 21M, and 22M (not to be confused with the 1920s’ sopraninos with the same model numbers). Sorry for the long post, I'm just wondering if anyone else is familiar with the Armstron Model 305B LTD.Ĭouf serial number chart. The person I talked to at the factory knew nothing of the LTD version, which I find rather curious. Although the instrument showed up in Conn-Selmer's database as a model 305B, this instrument seems to have all the features of a 305B except the barrel is engraved 'LDT' and the flute has a gold-plated lip plate and crown. I've never seen, or heard mention of, a 305B LTD before. The person I talked to said all she could tell me is that it showed up as a model 305B, and that it was sold by Armstrong to a dealer in March of 2000. After reading the posts in this thread I decided to call Conn-Selmer to see what I could find out. I have often wondered just how old the instrument is, since a dealer inventory tag had the appearance of being quite aged (well yellowed and dirty). I purchased it from a dealer, supposedly new, in December of 2005. I have an Armstrong 305B LTD, the serial number is 7116937. ![]()
